Huntsman Materials and Effects Europe has officially opened its new Tuzla Site in Istanbul, Turkey. The 5000 square meter, state of the art site houses both a production facility for Advanced Materials (AdMat) and a Textile Effects (TE) Formulation and Distribution Center (FDC), along with a Technical Center serving the European textile market. For Textile Effects, Turkey, with its dynamic textile industry, is a key strategic market. By investing in this new Center of Excellence (CoE), TE is strengthening both its operations in Turkey and its global network, thereby bolstering its ability to provide best in class service and innovative solutions to customers and partners, according to executives. For Advanced Materials, Turkey represents a fast-growing market of increasing importance. With the move from the previous Dudullu/Istanbul factory to the new premises in Tuzla, AdMat has not only considerably improved the facility’s Environment, Health and Safety standards, but also its ability to offer increased service levels for customers. The new facility, located in the Tuzla Paint and Varnish Industrial Zone, provides a production platform in the heart of the fast-growing Istanbul Industrial Zones. With convenient access and modern infrastructure, the Paint and Varnish Industrial Zone will give Huntsman a further competitive advantage. Speaking to the media at the press conference, Paul Hulme, President of Material and Effects, said: “The opening of the Materials & Effects plant in Tuzla represents a further milestone in the history of the Materials & Effects division. Combining production and lab facilities into one new site will further leverage synergies. This is an exciting and strategically beneficial step towards an even stronger presence for Huntsman in Turkey.” Advanced Materials and Textile Effects have been operating in Turkey for some 45 years. Initially, this was through agent and distributor networks, followed by operations under the Ciba-Geigy and Ciba Specialty Chemicals names, and then, upon joining the Huntsman Corporation, under the AdMat (2003) and TE (2006) names.
